Key Elements of the Golf Swing, 5: Impact Position( Moment of Truth)

Impact position or moment of truth , this is what it is all about, trying to return the club back to impact square & aimed at the target.

: hands are ahead of the club

: the shaft is leaning forward ie ahead of the hands

: left arm is comfortably straight with the back of the left hand flat with on wrist bend or angle

: left leg is now straight

: weight has now moved into the left side

: right heel starts to raise

: right knee is moving inwards towards the left leg

: right arm is tucked underneath with right elbow touching the right side or close too

: hips have opened at least 45' degrees

: shoulders should be square ( slightly open for the good player)

: chest is on top of the ball

Key Elements of the Golf Swing, 4: Halfway Down

The transition or initial move from the top of the backswing is very important . If the movement is out of sequence it can be disastrous causing the linkage of the swing to distorted & out of sequence & time.

: the left knee initiates the movement down

: the hands & arms drop into the delivery position

: the right elbow moves down towards the right hip

: the shaft is now on a flatter or shallower plane than we had in the backswing

: the weight still remains on the right leg( for the moment)

: the body remains behind the ball

Enjoy the process!

Key Elements of the Golf Swing, 3: Top of the Backswing

When the backswing is complete the following elements are critical to find the "Slot" or a consistent position at the the top

: the club should be parallel to the target line with the wrists fully cocked

: the right fore arm should be parallel to the spinal angle with the right arm as close to a 90' degree angle as       possible

:  the right elbow should be directly over the back of the right foot

: the left wrist should be flat ie. have no angle between the back of the hand & the forearm or radius bone

: the body has fully rotated with the back now facing the target

: the left shoulder is now under the chin

: the left knee points inwards towards the ball & the left heel may raise or stay on the ground ( this depends     on the level of flexibility)

: the right knee maintains knee flex with the weight now having moved onto the inside of the right foot.

Chin is under the left shoulder & the back
of the left wrist is flat. The right elbow is
over the back of the right foot.

Notice the 90' degree right arm & the parallel shaft

The left knee is pointing in towards the ball, the right knee
has maintained knee flex & the back is facing the target.

Enjoy the process!
